The Album Leaf at NorthSix in Williamsburg, oddly enough a stone’s throw from where we'd watched the marathon on Sunday. I’d seen them a couple year ago at Chop Suey and completely fell in love with this group. There’s always something by them on some sort of iPod playlist I’ve created. Unfortunately, the sound system at this joint was so heavily mixed with bass it was almost pointless to try make out any of the subtle, layered juiciness to their cuts. They really are better on headphones. It was also super crowded and scenesters make my sphincter pucker. We left early and it still took two fucking hours to get home. I ended up getting about 75 pages deeper into Lunar Park with all the time I had.
