SNAPSHOTS
From the top: 1. Gomez at the Bowery Ballroom. A very uneven performance in a very chilly and very crowded space. 2. Ghoul on 72nd. 3&4: My friend Knox and his boyfriend Victor were in town, so Saturday night we had some dinner at the cheap and excellent Curry In A Hurry, then decided to walk down from 28th to SoHo to burn off a bit of the offending curry. We happened to walk past the 69th Regiment Armory on 25th and Lexington, which happened to be having an antiquarian book sale and was open to the public. Only after doing some research later on did I realize it was the site of the Armory Show, the groundbreaking modern art exhibition of 1913 . For us it was this huge, decrepit and totally inspiring place to view from the balcony above the ground floor. I love vast spaces and this one made me feel all gooey inside.
