SHIT I SAW TODAY
A mediocre movie was one of them. Everything’s Gone Green had a screenplay by Douglas Coupland so I thought for sure he could transfer that brilliant literary energy to the screen. It was kinda flat with continual moments of disjointed narrative and painfully unfunny comic scenes like Garden State, complete with lame indie-rock soundtrack substituting for decent score, like Garden State. Honestly, I went to see it because it was filmed in Vancouver B.C., one of my favorite cities and potentially future home someday out there. No dissapointment on that front, the locations were heartbreaking and I hit the streets into the concrete hell wishing for a pine tree or several thousand. Stopped at the ratty dumpling place and got ten potstickers for two bucks, two egg rolls for a buck and a sesame pancake for buck as well. The pot stickers were great, the egg rolls were horrifying and the sesame pancake was a carb nightmare. Saw the Christian Tour bus (what the fuck is a Christian Tour?) then passed a fortune teller’s headquarters and caught a husband/boyfriend/other waiting for his wife/girlfriend/other to find out more about the future.
