THOSE BLOODY STREET FAIRS.
When I first moved here last September, one of the first things I happened to see with Cara was a few blocks shut down in Times Square, the streets filled with vendors and the smell of Fair Food permeating over the usual scatatastic aromas. Those cheap-0 cashmere scarves you see everywhere in winter were already on sale, and Cara and I each bought a couple for five bucks each in some kind of head start on the winter clothes shopping and we ate roasted corn. After living here for a few months and seeing how often these things pop up and seeing that there’s really nothing special about designer knock-off sunglasses or 24 packs of men’s white crew neck socks for three dollars or tables full of worthless junk for sale ridiculously described as “UNUSUAL ITEMS FOR LESS THAN A DOLLAR.” Otherwise known as “SHIT YOU DON’T NEED.”
